Response 1: Please see below. ' X Comment 2: Special Inspections are required for this project per section 1704.1.2 of the NC Building Code, NC Building Code Council amendments to the section and Table 1604.5 NCBC. A .pdf document entitled Special Inspections for Catawba County (SICC) can be downloaded at www. catawbacountync. ciov/ depts /u &e /Specialinspections.asp t A Statement of Special Inspections (SSI) is required for this project instructions for preparing the SSI are provided in Chapter 3 of the SICC. The SSI shall be submitted to the CCBSD for review on 8.5 X 11 sheets along with -` the construction documents but unattached. (see SICC -301.1 and NCSBC- - 1704.1.1). Blank copies of the 3 -page SSI are located in Appendix A (Blank Forms). The forms are to be prepared by the Registered Design Professional in Responsible Charge, and the Engineers of Record for the project. Page two of the form, identifies the types of work needing special inspection services as well as the Special Inspections Engineer of Record and Testing Labs responsible for the services. A review of this project has b3 identified special inspections for the following areas: Soils (due to fill) and Earth Retention Systems. Page three of the form is the Quality Assurance plan and provides the seismic and wind systems and components requiring special inspections prepared by the Structural Engineer of Record. Page three also provides a list of contractors responsible for the construction or fabrication of systems and components identified in the Quality Assurance Plan. Upon approval of the SSI by CCBSD a preconstruction meeting shall 3 be scheduled prior to permit issuance. The meeting shall be attended by the j a Owner or Designated Agent, Architect of Record, Structural Engineer of Record, General Contractor and Special Inspector of Record as identified on the SSI. Response 2: See the attached Special Inspections form and S1.1 Comment 3: Sheet C -1.0: Provide design drawings for modular block j s retaining wall, sealed, signed and dated by a design professional licensed in North - Carolina. It appears that the retaining wall would meet the requirements of 2009 NCBC section 1806.2. If this is not the case provide E documentation that the wall does not meet the requirements of this code section. See attached revised drawings. + r c Comment 4: Sheet A7.0: All wood used in construction of the auction platform shall be fire - retardant treated in accordance with 2009 NCBC 410.4 fi and 603.1(9). Response 4: See attached. Comment 5: All "S" (structural) sheets shall be sealed, signed and dated by a M design professional licensed in North Carolina. t Response 5: See attached. t Comment 6: Sheet S1.1: Special inspection shall be required for soils (due to fill), and modular retaining walls. 4 Response 6: The modular block retaining wall will be under a separate x permit. See attached revised drawings. Comment 7: Sheet P1.0: Provide roof drain drawings (see note on roof plan sheet A2.3) including pipe size and slope. Response 7: See attached — building will be equipped with scuppers, a conductor boxes and downspouts. s` Comment 8: All "E:" (electrical) sheets shall be sealed, signed and dated by a design professional licensed in North Carolina. Response 8: See attached. Comment 9: Sheet E6.0: The secondary side overcurrent protection of Panel "R" (main breaker) appears to exceed the amount allowed by 2008 NEC Table 450.3(B) for primary and secondary protection. Revise as required or provide calculation showing how overcurrent protection was determined. u. Response 9: Calculations and loads have been updated on the panel schedules.
