Installation of a divider wall
Gentlemen,
This is a response to your first review of the above referenced plans.
Building Review, Approved with notes dated 8/11/11:
1014.22.1- The stock room and the shop are the same hazard classification.
1014.22.2 - No more than 50% of the exit accesses thru the stock room. The other 50% is thru
the front door.
1014.22.3 - The door between the stock room and sales area will not be locked from either side.
1014.22.4 - A demarcation aisle 44" wide will be created by erecting steel post approximately 6'
on center, connected by a chain. The chain will be fixed at one end and removable at the other
to allow passage when required. See detail on revised drawings.
Hickory Fire Department Review dated 8/12/11, Re- submit:
1. Appendix B has been corrected to note that the facility is sprinkled. A note has been added
concerning the location of sprinkler heads and advising the Sprinkler Contractor to:
A. Obtain a permit before starting work.
B. Comply with the code.
2. Additional notification devices have been shown. Specifically a new horn and strobe plus an
additional strobe have been added to the sales area and an additional strobe added to the
stock room in the area for the exit doors. Existing and new devices are shown on the
revised drawings.
3. See Building Review above for compliance with 1014.2 #2.
4. Some renovation work will be done during business hours. Any work involving egress,
sprinklers or alarms will be conducted at night of when the shop is closed.
5. The existing stock room will remain part of the same lease /tenant.
6. A note has been added to the drawings referring the owner and contractor to Chapter 33
and Chapter 14.
7. A note has been added referring the sprinkler contractor to Chapter 9 section 901.7.

8. It is economically unfeasible and impractical to close the shop for the minor renovations
proposed. The owner will take every precaution to safe guard her employees and
customers during the renovations.
Hickory Utilities Review dated 8/15/11, Approved.
