(We shall comply) Comment # 2: Sheet CS.1: Secondary occupancy is marked as none, but mixed occupancy is marked as yes. Coordinate and revise. (See revised CS-1 and R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing Al. 1) Comment # 3: Sheet CS.1: Include all areas in the separated use calculation (R2, B). (See revised CS-1 and R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing Al. 1) Comment # 4: Sheet CS1: This project will require special inspections due to the fact that it is considered an essential facility by 2009 NCBC Table 1604.5. Provide all required paperwork for special inspections (see directions after item # 18 below). (See attached Special Inspections Appendix A) Comment # 5: Sheet A1.1: The size of the handicap shower does not agree with the ICC ANSI Al 17.1-2003 section 608.2.2 or 608.2.3 requirements. (See revised drawing A1.1) PAGE OF 3 Comment # 6: Sheet A1.1: Provide shower arrangements for female employees. (See revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 7: Sheet A1.1: Provide sprinklers throughout building per 2009 NCBC 903.2.7. (R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing A1.1) Comment #8: Sheet A1.1: 2 hour separation is required between all occupancies based on separated use as marked on the Appendix "B" per 2009 NCBC 508.3.3.4, 706.3.9 and Table 706.3.9. (R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing A1.1) Comment #9: Sheet A1.1: Either the building must have sprinklers or an approved smoke or heat detections system must be installed in order to use the electric strikes on door per 2009 NCBC 1008.1.8.6. Verify that the electric strikes will meet all requirements of NCBC 1008.1.8.6. (Electric Strikes will meet NCBC 1008.1.8.6 See revised drawing A1.2) Comment # 10: Sheet A1.1: Remove the note concerning reuse of the existing window. (See revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 11: Sheet A1.1: Verify that the sidewalk is flush with the pavement outside door # 109A or provide means to access the public way.(Door 109A exits out onto flush paved areas) Comment # 12: Sheet A1.1: Verify that door # 104A will swing back flush with the wall or widen sidewalk per 2009 NCBC 1005.2.(See revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 13: Sheet A1.1: Verify overall dimension of wall type # 3. (See revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 14: Sheet A2.1: Revise roll -in shower to meet requirements of ICC / ANSI A117.1 -2003 section 608.2.2 or 608.2.3. (See revised drawing A1.1) t Comment # 15: Sheet A2.1: Detail # 2 indicates the shower is a roll -in type but you include a threshold detail for a transfer type shower. Clarify. g (See revised drawing A2.1) Comment # 16: Sheet A2.2: Verify that all kitchen equipment (stove, exhaust, dishwasher, etc) are residential type. (Owner has verified that all equipment will be residential type.) Comment # 17: Sheet S2.0: Verify seismic design category 9 g ry (should it not be a "C "). This sheet should be included with the structural design drawings. (Per Taylor and Viola: SEISMIC CATEGORY D IS CORRECT AS SHOWN. THE SD, VALUE = 0.154 AND THE OCCUPANCY CATEGORY IS IV (FIRE STATION), THEREFORE IN ACCORDANCE WITH TABLE 1613.5.6(2) THE SEISMIC CATEGORY WOULD BE D) Comment # 18:' Sheet A4.0: Provide emergency roof drains per 2009 NCBC 1107. (See revised drawing A3.0 and A4.0) PAGE 2OF3 x: t FIRE STATUS: (COMPLETE - DISAPPROVED) Comment # 1: A fire safety review of this project was conducted. Summaries of the comments are in the following notes. Comment # 2: A written response to the comments in the order they appear in this correspondence as well as appropriate clouded revisions to the plans shall be provided. (We shall comply) Comment # 3: This review does not constitute a check of all technical code items and does not prevent the code official from requiring further additions and / or corrections. Comment # 4: This review also does not relieve the design professional of full responsibility for compliance with all the provisions of the technical codes and other pertinent laws or ordinances. Comment # 5: Adequacy of all emergency and exit lighting will be verified in the field at the time of final inspection. Emergency lighting shall also include the area of exit discharge. (We shall comply) Comment # 6: If HVAC System is of the capacity that requires duct detectors, the detectors shall be connected to the building's fire alarm system per NCFC (We shall comply) Comment # 7: Page FP1 indicates that the fire sprinkler system will only protect the night room. Per NCFC 903.2.7, the entire building with a Group R occupancy must be protected. (R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing A1.1) Comment #8: Plans for the sprinkler system shall be submitted for review and approval and the permit issued prior to the installation of any component of the system. (R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 9: Identify FDC location on plans. (R2 Occupancy area was removed see revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 10: RISER ROOM, ELECTRICAL ROOM, and MECHANICAL ROOM shall be properly labeled in accordance with NCFC 510.1 (We shall comply) Comment # 11: Plans for the fire alarm system shall be submitted for review and approval and the permit issued prior to the installation of any component of the system. (We shall comply) Comment # 12: Separation between the new addition and the existing building shall meet the requirements of the building code official. (We shall comply) Comment # 13: Per NCFC 1011.3, tactile exit signs shall be installed adjacent to each required exit. These signs shall meet the requirements of ICC A117.1. (See Attached revised drawing A1.1) Comment # 14: Premises identification required per NCFC 501.1. (We shall comply) Comment # 14: Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life- saving or fire - fighting purposes, the fire code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an approved location. The key box shall be of an approved type and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the fire code i official.
