Please find the responses as requested and in the order requested. 1) We shall provide a written response to each of the comments and where revised on the drawing, the change shall be clouded, per instructed. 2) All sheets have been sealed and signed by a registered professional engineer, with the appropriate address. 3) The seal of the project designer shall comply with 21 NCAC 56.1102. 4) Product shall be stored on floor and on racks. The rack height shall be =< 12 ft. above floor level. 5) We are only increasing the area of the Food Market for storage. The food market has a total of 5 fixtures. Three water closets for the females and two for the men. We will be increasing the storage area by 3414 sf. At 500 sf per person we would be adding 7 people. The owner has informed me that the most he would be adding is 2 people. The Mercantile area is approximately 16,500 sf with existing storage of 3,900 sf. With the 3,414 sf of storage we will be adding and at 60sf per person for the mercantile area, we will have a total of 14 people in storage areas and 24 in the mercantile area. 1 men's toilet and 1 women's, in the mercantile area and the same in the storage area. We should be in compliance with the existing accommodations. 6) The drawing from the Metal Building manufacturer, Kirby Building Systems, will be forth coming and shall be delivered to the Building Services Office upon receipt. 7) All wood framing and sheathing shall be fire treated. 8)' The header for the 8ft rollup door shall be a W8x10 w/a 3/8" plate on the bottom. The wall is not a load bearing structure. 9) The header for the six ft. opening shall be a W8x10 w/ 3/8" plate on the bottom also. The wall is bearing, however the existing footing is sufficient to carry the point loads of the header. 10) The thickened slab is sufficient to carry the load of the corridor wall and share of the roof. See `M' Sheet and revised Appendix B, C -2. 16) The total load on the 1" gas line feeding the existing and the new addition will be 450,000 BTU's. 17) The design pressure of the system shall be 2 lb.'s. The distance to the futhest device is approximately 220 lft. 18) The occupancy of the building addition is for storage and the NCECC 505.2.2.1 and .2 should not apply. Conway Wilson, E C) i general contractors C AROLINA C ONSTRUCTION C OMPANY www.carolinaconstructiongc.com 07/07/11 Catawba County Plan Review 76 North Center St. Hickory, NC 28601 RE: Fresh Air Galaxy, Longview (Fire -6 -11- 11355) Dear Sir: 1) We are in receipt of your review notes and acknowledge that the notes are pertaining to the fire code only and that other trades may make review and make comments as well. 2) With this document, we are in compliance to respond to each of the review comments, in the order of the review notes. 3) We understand and acknowledge that this portion of the review does not cover all code issues and that other code officials may make additions and /or corrections to the notes. 4) We understand that this review in no way relieves the design professional from his duty to design in compliance to all state and local codes and ordinances. 5) We agree that all emergency lights and exit signs, in the areas of discharge, shall be tested in the field. 6) We acknowledge that all tactile EXIT signs shall comply with the ICC Al 17.1 requirements. 7) The existing Galaxy market and storage are fire sprinkled. The three tenant areas are not. 8) The walls separating the market from the tenant areas, as well as the tenant areas from tenant areas are constructed of two wythes of brick, yielding a 2- hour protected wall, which should be adequate to meet the code separation requirements. 9) We are aware of the need to relocate the FDC. We have made note of this on Slit. 1.0, basically routing the FDC and the Blow off piping around the C -1 Column and through the South wall. The piping will be protected by a steel bollard. 10) We acknowledge that when the sprinkler system is disabled in any way, it is the responsibility of the GC and/or the Fire Sprinkler contractor to notify the Fire Marshall's office and the local fire department. 11) Sprinkler plans shall be developed and submitted before any modifications of the existing system is made. 12) At present, the Galaxy Market is the only area with a fire alarm system. Plans shall be prepared and approved before any modifications to stem are made. 13) Per direction, we have added the 2 ea. 10 lb. ABC See sht. 1.0.
