Dear Mr.Harris: William L.Warren,Chief Phone:919-855-3893 Fax:919-733-6592 The engineering portion of final working drawings dated June 22,2009 (received June 24,2009 fee paid July 17,2009)for the referenced project has been reviewed for conformance with licensure's minimum standards for Nursing Homes (lOA NCAC Chapter 13,Subchapter D).The engineering drawings are approved provided the following conditions are met: 1.Please verify the location of the nurse's station and nurse's call panel on the lower level of Unit M.It is not shown on the drawing. 2.Please verify visual nurse call signals in the lower level of Corridor 1068 it is not shown the drawing.This is required per Licensure rules. 3.Please verify visual nurse call signals located in the upper of Corridor 2150,it is not shown on the drawing.This is required per Licensure rules. 4.Electric system and upgrades must meet the appropriate requirements of the National Electrical Code (2008 Edition). We must receive a written response from your engineer to this review. Please understand that review of these documents in no way relieves the owner,the architect,or the engineer from the responsibility of violation of governing codes and regulations not found by our office or other reviewing agencies.When such violations are found they must be corrected. Prior to our final approval!recommendation for licensure and occupancy or our final inspection,we will need copies of the following information; 1.A copy of the Certificate of Occupancy issued by the local Code Enforcement Official having jurisdiction.(NC Administrative Code,2002 edition,Section 307) 2.A letter from the design architect and engineer confirming that their firms have inspected the project, and have found it to be constructed in conformance with approved plans and specifications;and that our review conditions of drawing approval have been met in the construction. 3.Confirmation that all electrical materials,devices,appliances,and equipment located in the project area have been evaluated for safety and suitability for their intended use by an approved testing agency (such as Underwriters Laboratories).This evaluation must be conducted in conformance with nationally recognized standards,and must be conducted by a qualified testing laboratory.(N.C. General Statue 66-25) The above material may be mailed to our office within two weeks of the final inspection.Hand delivered during our final inspection,or mailed following our final inspection.Unless otherwise indicated,we will not recommend occupancy or licensure until all documents that are applicable to the project have been received and approved by this office. For the final inspection required prior to occupancy and /or licensure,we ask that you (the owner)notify our office in writing 10-14 days prior to the anticipated completion date of the construction in order that we may schedule your inspection more effectively.For purposes of the final inspection,we expect to find all building systems to have been completed,tested and in operational order.During the final inspection process,the owner should have present,representatives of the various trades and!or equipment installers necessary to demonstrate that all systems are functioning.Failure to have knowledgeable personal at the final inspection may result in an incomplete (not approved)inspection. This project has been reviewed under the 2009 edition of the NC State Building Codes as a one-story fully-sprinklered building of Type V-A construction under Group 1-2 occupancy. SFCS Response: Refer to General Note 5 on Drawing E1.2.The upper and lower floors on this drawing are licensed for "Homes For The Aged And Infirm".Per the requirements of lOA NCAC 13F .0311 a nurse's call panel on the lower level is not required.Also note that the CNA's will have a pager and that calls for assistance will be sent to the caregiver. Review Comment #2: Please verify visual nurse call signals in the lower level of Corridor 1068 it is not shown the drawing.This is required per Licensure rules. SFCS Response: Refer to General Note 5 on Drawing E1.2.The upper and lower floors on this drawing are licensed for "Homes For The Aged And Infirm".Per the requirements of lOA NCAC 13F .0311 nurse call signals are not a required on the upper or lower levels.
