This letter coinnrms that the existing roof joists in the location shown on ,
drawing A4.1 have an adequate load capacity to support the suspended exhaust
hood, The suspended exhaust hood weighs up to 1100#. At points of
suspension, mom than 4" from a joist panel point, provide L 1 % x L 1 �� web
stiffbners as indicated on detaH 4122.

The following items represent responses and clarifications to the construction documents per the
comments from the inspections department,

1, 10. 1 1.6(b) All of the mechanical equipment including hood exhaust will be screened from
view from all off -site approaches. Existing parapet heights will be high enough to screen
all new equipment.
2, 1, 0,7,1 All solid waste will be placed in the existing on -site durnpsters.
1 Signage will be covered under a separate application.

1 Sheet A1 1: hood emergency activation switch is located along wall in direction of egress
travel. It is located on the wall on the left side of the can wash. It is located per 2009
NCBC 904.11.1.
1 Sheet A2.1 . restrooms do meet requirement of 60 Inch clear floor space per NCAC
11,3.2.2. Allowance for 12 inch overhang of door swing. Drawings show 10 1/8"

12. Sheet P 1: See detail 4110 for platform supporting the 100 gallon water heater above the
mop sink.
13, Sheet MI: See attached letter from structural engineer stating that the existing bar joists
were designed to carry the load of the exhaust hood.
14. Sheet M2- See note on sheet M2 stating that the kitchen hood exhaust will not affect gas
water heater function.
15. Sheet M2: A note has been added to the hood detail to install the hood as per the
manufacturer's recommendations and to maintain the inanufacturer's required clearances.
After checking with the hood manufacturer (Captiveaire), the hood typically needs to be
18" from combustibles (tlic ceiling tiles are not combustibles per USG). Captiveaire also

ated. that they make a 0" to combustibles hood but that it is a very custom hood and is
only installed in appli cati ons where you are surrounded with wood construction within 18
which is not our scenario.
16. Sheet El: See revised sheet showing the total load of each panel, in KVA.
17. Sheet E2: The service entrance and feeder conductors have been resized per 2008 NEC
338.10(13)(4)(b) and 340.80.
Fire Marshal
1. The occupant load has been verified and per conversations with fire marshal modified to
meet egress requirements. The Appendix B has been revised to show the proper occupant
load for each area. Sheet A2.2 has been revised to show tables and chairs in lieu of booths
in the dining, area.
2, The Appendix B has been revised showing that a Fire Alarrn System is not going to'be
installed.

Environinental Health
1, The hand sinks in the kitchen area will come with splashguards on both sides standard.
I The rack- next to the three compartment sink and aqjacont wall have been reconfigured so
the wall will be next to the three compartment sink and the rack, will be next to the prep
sink. The rack is used for storage of food prep items.
3. The hand sink has been relocated closer to the order taking area along the wall that it is on
now
4, The six gallon hot water heater will be used to service the restroom sinks and hand sinks.
The six gallon hot water heater temperature will be set to I 10 degrees Fahrenheit versus the
main hot water heater tetilperature of 140 degrees Fahren-lieit.
The following items are included with this package:

the exhaust hood,
