The foundation was excavated upon our arrival on site The evaluation was performed using hand -auger borings, DCP test, and probing with a % -inch steel probe rod, A total of six test were performed in the four corners and the center of the longer sides of the building. All hand -auger borings were terminated in residual soils ranging from 1.5 to 3 feet below the foundation. All borings except the front right comer (front 1 facing Boyd Street) were terminated due to auger refusal. All auger refusal was due to hard residua) soils. The DCP test results ranged from 6 to an excess of 25 blows per increment The soils mainly consisted of sandy silt with mica, clayey sandy silt, and silty sand. No ground water was observed in any of the borings performed. Based on the results of the hand auger borings and DCP tests and probing with 1/2" of steel rod, the foundations are capable of supporting design foundations net allowable bearing pre ure of 3,000 psf.
