Dear Marty:
PAGE 01
At your request, the reinforced concrete founckttion wall to be built at the referenced
address was designed. The design specifications indicated were for a 10 thick poured in
place concrete foundation wall, I 0'-V tall, sm1pordog a naaxirn ma unbalanced backfill of
10'. The steel reinforcemeut required for this -ubject concrete foundation wall is #4
rebar at 12 "o /c in both the vertical and horizontal directions, or the equivalent of #5 rebar
at 18 "o% in each direction The vertical rebar must be placed at 2" from the basement
face of the wall. The footing required for this wall is it 12" deep by 24" wide concrete
footing with 344 continuous rebar with #4 dcowcls projecting a minimum of 18" from the
footing, spaced to splice with the vertical reir,16rcexment. The center longitudinal bar
must be positioned at the dowel bead. Design is based on a soil- bearing capacity of
2000psf and a maximum uniform load, including the weight of the concrete wall,
concrete footing, and any Iriek/stone, of 4004 pl£
The following is our recommended procedure for backfilling a reinforced concrete
foundation wall:
1. Allow the concrete to cure for five (5) days.
2. Construct first floor fiumilo.g to assure lateral support for the top of the wall.
3. Backfill the exterior with suitable fill material in 8" to 12" lifts, compacting each
layer.
If I can be of any further assistance to you with regards to this report, please do not
