On Wednesday, December 12, 2007, the above referenced unit was
inspected and it was determined that the foundation bolts that are placed
every six -foot (6') on- center with washers will be of sufficient strength so
that the twelve -inch (12 ") seal plate is safe.

On Thursday, December 20, 2007, the above referenced site was re- inspected and the
Catawba County Inspections Department, Reid Goforth, contacted The set-up as
provided for by the Engineers of the manufacturer was originally installed. After the
original inspection by the Catawba County Inspections Department, the seal plates were
bored and bolt attached in a different manner from the original inspected and approved
set -up. The revisions do not meet State Residential Requirements.
On site we saw a plan by the manufacturer's Engineers showing the correct way to attach
the seal plates as originally performed by the contractor. The change made to the set -up,
particularly the seal plates boring and bolting are unacceptable.
Please contact the manufacturer engineer and have them to recalculate the attachment by
this revised method, which reduces the depth of seal plates to approximately one (1) inch
instead of the full depth as shown on the manufacturers plan. The seal plates are two (2)
inch by twelve (12) inch pressure treated lumber as required.
