(MACTEC) is presenting this report summarizing our testing services performed during construction of the modular block retaining walls at the Catawba County Detention Facility in August and September, 2005. Our scope of work included inspection of shallow foundations and field compaction testing. MACTFC performed testing of foundation excavations to verify the presence of soil bearing materials suitable to provide the design soil bearing pressure. Prior to testing, auger borings were incrementally advanced by manually twisting a sharpened steel auger into the soil. The bearing elevations of the foundations were approved at the design elevations. Field compaction tests were performed in general accordance with ASTM D 2937. The tests performed met the required degree of compaction as specified in the project documents- MACTEC appreciates the opportunity to provide our professional services to you on this project. If you have any questions concerning the information in this report or if we can be of further service, please contact us. Sincerely, MACTEC ENGINEERING 0W QpNSULT1NG, INC. CA R9 SEAL - Douglas K.
