MARI STREET (28150) SHELBY, N.C. 704-487-7082 FAX 704-482-5596 E-MAIL TS8RC[I@SHELBY,NET I Mr. Brian Roberts, Project Manager Matthews Construction Company 2 10 First Ave. South Conover, NC 28613 Re: Phase I Building NewStar Community Church of God Dear Mr: Roberts: This letter is written to record items we discussed in a telephone conversation today,, Mr. I I Ron Stewart othe church called to mention ' three things they are concerned about. They f are: The vinyl face of the roof insulation has rips in several locations. This will have to be corrected. Exactly how it is to be corrected will need to be discussed. Above areas where the insulation will not be exposed it may be patched with tape intended for that purpose. In the worship area the solution must be a long to one that does not look "patched'% 2. There is mud on the newly poured concrete floor. You indicated that the mud will be cleaned off , right away and the floor will be protected with corrugated board' material. 3. The brick needs to be protected from mud splatter. You indicated you would contact the job superintendent and have him take care of this right away. Other items we discussed were: The sewer line profile cannot be prepared with any degree of accuracy without good layout information. You indicated you would have Mike Mirada, the surveyor, locate the sewer manholes and shoot levels along the sewer line to give us the needed layout information. We will then prepare the sewer line profile. 2. The question about the aluminum storefront and ' windows are being addressed. You said the subcontractor is preparing a sample in the baked enamel color the Owner has selected. 2 Mr. Brian Roberts May 3, 2004 3. The view window from the entry 01 into office 17 was discussed. The subcontractor has proposed to, put an aluminum sliding window in the opening: That cannot be since the all is fire rated. The opening will require,a metal frame with'wire glass as shown on the drawings (SVFAI on Sheet A2). ., You asked about handing of door 2B. moor 2B should be right hand reverse bevel s viewed from entry area 01. I will call the building inspector to gee if door requires an exit sign in worship area 02. (Follow-up — Later in the day I spoke with Jeff Hinkle at the Catawba County Building Standards Office. He said that an exit light is not required because the door is not a required exit) . We discussed the wall louvers. It, has become clear that they must go on the right end of the building. If you will have the mechanical subcontractor coordinate the proposed shape (triangular) and si7,e With Brittain Engineering we will prepare a drawing showing how they look on the building so the Owner can review it.
