Sloan, P.E. The F&R representatives traveled to the site at the request of the client to perform a subgrade evaluation at the perimeter pier footing locations, The 12-inch wide continuous wall footing had been excavated around the perimeter, and the perimeter and interior pier foundations had been layed out, Mr. Mike Yount, Building Systerns, requested that the evaluation be conducted prior to excavating the piers to determine if any over -excavation would be required. Fie also stated that 2,000 pounds per square foot bearing capacity was required. The site had been preViOLISly graded by others and contained about 2 to 9 feet of new fill. Reportedly, the fill was tested for in -place density and met at least 95% compaction while being placed. Hand probing the surface bearing soils indicated some areas to be soft. The F&R representatives performed eight Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests throughout the day by hand angering through the existing fill into the residual soils below, Mr. Yount was informed that F&R would return to the site on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 to complete the testing.
