Dear Mr. Roger;
I am writing to outline the steps that should be taken to insure the integrity of the interior
column footing that has a plumbing drain line installed within the 45 degree stress plane
extending below the footing. In order to maintain the integrity of the footing, I have
instructed the building owner and the plumbing contractor to backfill the plumbing trench
with flowa.ble fill concrete in the location adjacent to the footing. The flowable fill
should be installed in the trench up to the bottom of the column footing and should
extend at lease three feet in the trench beyond the edges of the column footing.
