Box 389 100-ASouth West Boulevard Newton, North Carolina 28658-0389 Telephone (828) 465-8264 http://www.catawbacountync.gov FAX (828) 465-8484 “Keeping the Spirit Alive Since 1842!” March 17, 2009 Christine Bivens 3258 Lynn Mountain Road Vale, NC 28168 RE: Parcel PIN #2678-03-20-9456 Ms. Bivens, This letter is to confirm our conversation regarding the status of a temporary manufactured home permit issued on the above noted parcel. The temporary manufactured home permit was issued for a hardship in 1988. That permit is valid for as long as the hardship exists; however, once the hardship no longer exists, the permit is no longer valid. It is my understanding that the hardship has not existed since August of 2008 which means the permit that allowed the manufactured home to stay on the property is no longer valid. After reviewing the property information, it is not possible to subdivide the property in conformance with the ordinance that would allow the manufactured home to stay in its present location. A determination has been made that since the hardship that allowed the temporary manufactured home permit to be issued is no longer in existence and there is not an option to subdivide the parcel, the manufactured home will have to be removed from the property. It is my understanding that you reside in the manufactured home and are making some repairs to the existing stick built home on site with the purpose of living in that structure. We can work with you regarding a time frame for removing the manufactured home to allow some of those repairs to be completed. We propose to re-evaluate the progress of the repairs to the stick built home and the movement of the manufactured home in three (3) months. If significant progress is achieved, we would consider an additional three (3) month extension until the manufactured home would have to be permanently removed from the property. Please let me know if you have any questions. Sincerely, Michael Poston Planner Cc: Anne Marie Pease, Deputy County Attorney
