Addition to the Webb Murray Elementary School
Dear Jeff,
Thank you for your review and your staffs' review of this project on December 29, 2010. Enclosed with
this response letter are 7 sets of the revised drawings and 7 copies of the requests for change. The
response letters to William Moeller at the NC Department of Insurance was sent to you previously. We
received by e-mail William Moeller's direction to have an approval letter prepared. As soon as the
approval letter from D.O.I. is received we will forward you a copy.
In response to the comments I have the following:
Building Review by Steve Deitz
1) The previous plan revisions that were not clouded have been and are attached to this letter.
2) Statement of Special inspection forms have been filled out by the general contractor and each one
of the sub — contractors.
3) The head of wall detail has been revised, see attached detail co. sk -1 A5.0.

In response to the comments from the Catawba County Fire Approval (William Bump) I have the 3
following:
1) Emergency and exit lighting will be reviewed in the field.
2) Fire extinguisher will be added to the mechanical room by the owner
3) KNOX box form has been sent to the owner.
4) Fire lanes have been indicated, see attached revised sheet C3.1.
5) The fire wall design dividing the new building has been approved by the N.C. Dept. of Insurance.
6) Premises identification numbers (currently located on the entry doors) will be reworked by the
owner to be visible from Section House Road.

7) Fire alarm shop drawings will be submitted for review as soon as they are available.
Landscaping:
Trees are shown in the two islands, see sheet 1-1.1.
Health Department:
High gloss paint will be used on the ceilings of the restrooms and janitors closets.
f Traffic /Transportation:
The Board of Education is working with the NCDOT for the driveway permits. Negotiations are
underway with the adjoining property owners for rights of way.
See attached Statement of Special Inspections by James Tate, PE. Please let me know if you have any
