Dear Steve,
Thank you for time working with us on this project. We have tried to address each

1. A written response has been provided along with revised clouded drawings
when appropriate.
2. I can provide a date on each sheet that we are not revising. Any revised sheet
will have a date on them. I can come by and date the others if you need me to.
3. Steve, we may have to discuss this next one, however, there is absolutely
nothing in this church project that would ever have us get to an Institutional
Occupancy. First of all, Zion Lutheran Church is a church. As such, it is an
A -3 occupancy. The educational, or Sunday school rooms are clearly covered
under 305.1. Religious educational rooms, which are accessory to places of z
worship in accordance with Section 508.3.1 and have occupant loads of less
than 100, shall be classified as A -3 occupancies. Those spaces are accessory
to the place of worship and are not, according to 508.3.1 exception 3, a
separate occupancy. Here is the bottom line. They are not going to sprinkle
the building, nor are they required to. They are not an Institutional
occupancy. Where did you get Mothers Morning Out anyway? It could only
have come from the cabinet elevations which were old and never got revised.
Those elevations have now been revised to reflect whats on the plans.
They may not make any changes to their existing programs that are currently
operating at the church. If, and only if, they did decide to use the rooms in the z
future to expand that program, and if it is suggested that by having a part time
mothers morning out program, which is part of the ministry at Zion Lutheran
Church, is what makes the project Institutional, then they would not do it.
With that being said, the number of children in any of the rooms being

we had to use an E occupancy and therefore have to look at note a. in the same
table, the number of occupants in any of those rooms in question is not more y
than the 10 allowed.

5. A KNOX Box key box will be provided if one is required per NCFC 506.1.'
6. The building is existing and has the required premises identification.
7. The creation of nursery /classroom space does not require direct access to the
outside. Table 1015.1 allows a single exit from the space up to 49 persons. If
we are less than 100 occupants we are still an A -3 per 303.1 and 305.1 If we
are looked at as an E occupancy, we can have up to 10 occupants without a
second exit. We will never be an institutional occupancy and would not be
required to sprinkle this building. k
8. We may already have a fire alarm but it is not required based on being
Institution because that is not our occupancy.
9. The mechanical room is existing and if it does not already have a sign one will
be provided as required. t
10. There is to be no stove in the kitchen.
11. An additional emergency light will be provided in the corridor created in 4
Storage 119 if required.
