HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBPR-9-10-7146 CVCC Advising Center Renovations Architect's Response to Review Comments.tif t adwarchitects g environmentsforlife i December 16, 2010 James Lamb Catawba County Plan Review 76 North Center Street Hickory, NC 28601 RE: CVCC Advisory Center Renovation — Re- submittal Mr. Lamb, The following is our response to your review comments on the above referenced project. i Comment: 1.Per Sections 1103.2.2 and 3409 of the 2009 NC Building Code, when alterations are made to an area ( of primary function alterations shall be made to ensure that, to the maximum extent feasible, the path of travel to that i altered area is also made accessible unless the cost of such path of travel alterations is disproportionate to the cost of € the alteration to the area of primary function. Costs associated with providing an accessible path of travel shall be deemed disproportionate to the overall alteration when the cost exceeds 20 %. If all elements in chapter 11 are not to be made fully accessible, documentation shall be provided to verify expenditures. The accessible route to the primary function area shall include toilet facilities serving the area of primary function per Section 3409.7 of the 2009 NCBC. Response: There is an existing accessible route from the parking lot leading into the area where the renovation will be. See revised Sheet A003. The existing toilets have been updated to the current accessible building code. See revised Sheets A001, A100, A500, A600, A800, P100, M001, M100, E100 & E101 Comment: 2.Sheet A002 and the fire protection requirements section of the appendix B: Provide a complete reproduction of the U465 design referenced in this section. Response: See revised Sheet A002 detail 7. Comment: 3.Sheet A100: Provide a complete design for the 1 hour fire resistance rated wall type IA from a third party agency approved by North Carolina D.O. I. such as UL. Response: See revised A 100 wall type IA.
