Jeff Vaughan and Trevor Hackney of Agri-Waste Technology,Inc. (AWT) conducted the soil evaluation. This evaluation was done to facilitate permitting for a septic system. This report and attached documents were prepared to meet the requirements for an A2 approval for Improvement Permit and Construction Authorization (G.S. 130A-335(a2). A drawing of the site plan, septic layout, and boring locations is included in Attachment 1. Profile descriptions for each boring are included in Attachment 2. Additional documentation about the property is included in Attachment 3. A home was recently demolished and removed from the property. The existing septic system was located by AWT and will have to be abandoned. The existing well on the property will be reused. This property area is approximately 0.93 acres. The property is an open grass field. The home is proposed near the front property line and the septic system is proposed towards the back of the property. The proposed septic system is a conventional gravity septic system utilizing drop boxes and a PPBS (Horizontal) drain field product. Soil Suitability for Domestic Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems The drawing in Attachment 1 details the property boundaries(as surveyed by Professional Property Surveyors,Inc), soil boring locations, and layout of drain field trenches (Completed by AWT). Soil borings were examined to determine soil suitability 1 L - for on-site sewage disposal systems in accordance with 15A 18A .1900 Rules for Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems. These borings were advanced with a hand auger. A septic layout was performed to demonstrate available space (.1945). The layout in Attachment 1 indicates there is available space for a four-bedroom primary and repair system utilizing a conventional gravity septic system with drop boxes and a PPBS (Horizontal) drain field product, with TS-II pretreatment necessary if the repair area is installed. The proposed LTAR (Long Term Acceptance Rate)by AWT is 0.3 GPD/ft2. The soils on this property are group IV soils within the distribution and treatment zone as used to define the LIAR. Since usable slope corrected soil depths meet or exceed 34"AWT is recommending the use of the PPBS (Horizontal) drain field product. With an LTAR of 0.3 GPD/f12, 267 linear feet of trench are necessary to support a four-bedroom home initial system. The maximum trench bottom should not exceed 22". The attached drawing proves that 268 linear feet of trench can be installed for the primary septic system and 332 linear feet of trench can be installed for the repair septic system with the proposed home location on the property. Any disturbances or grading done in the usable area or within the proposed setbacks will change the potential of using the area designated for a drain field. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you in this matter. Please contact us with any questions, concerns, or comments. (AWT)was contracted to perform a Feasibility Expansion Study for the property located at 3671 Waterview Lane in Terrell,NC. The purpose of this Feasibility Study is to demonstrate the possibilities of septic system expansion or relocation per the requirements set forth by Catawba Environmental Health. AWT conducted a field flagging/delineation of the existing septic system and the future repair septic system at the subject property. The findings are as follows: Existing System The existing septic system is an old gravel bed that will be abandoned. Available Space The available space with minimum setbacks to existing septic components and building setbacks is shown as"available space" on the site plan. A total of 8,297 ft2 is available that could be utilized for building purposes. New Septic Potential A total of 808 linear feet of new drainfield trench can be installed. The new lines would encroach on the 50ft lake buffer which will require the use of pretreatment technology to reduce the setback to 35ft. If the existing system is abandoned, there is potential for a new 4-bedroom system utilizing chambers for initial and repair. If T&J Panel is utilized, there is potential for the system to be expanded to 5-bedrooms. The area where the original house was is mostly unsuitable for septic components due to soil disturbance. There is enough line inside the 50ft lake setback to obtain a new 4-bedroom permit if desired. This will impact the available building space. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
