Septic Inspection Results:
Septic tank: Septic tank is approximately 15' from the house and 12-24" below the surface of
the ground. The tank lids are intact. The tank has a baffle. The inflow to the tank appears to
be making it to the tank. The inflow pipe was completely submerged under the top scum in the
tank. Water level in the tank was above the normal operating level. Outlet T has a filter. Filter
was cleaned during the inspection. Outlet T is below the water level. Outlet T and inflow pipe
should be above the water level. Effluent does not leave the tank to the drain field at an
acceptable rate. No evidence of roots in the tank. No evidence of non-permitted connections.
Some evidence of tank leakage around the tank lids. Connection is present from the house to
the tank. Approximately 40%of sludge is in the tank. Tank was not pumped.
Pump system information: N/A
Drain Field information: Drain field consist of three trenched lines approximately 115' long and
3' wide. The system is made of 25% reduction chambers. There is evidence of surfacing on the
bottom two lines. The drain field is saturated and will need to be replaced. Effluent is slowly
going to the drain field but not at an acceptable rate.
Other pertinent information: The septic tank was completely full all the way to the lid. Black
residue was around the lids confirming that wastewater was leaving the tank through the lids.
No place in the back yard for a repair for the drain field. Catawba County Environmental Health
will need to evaluate the drain field for repairs.
This on-site wastewater inspection is a presentation of system facts in place as of this date of inspection
