Good Morning,
Jennifer received an email yesterday from someone at the state level reporting that they had received a call from a
person who wanted to report getting severe food poisoning at a restaurant in Catawba County. This person was
requesting a call back from public health.
The patient reports that he had not eaten anything Friday morning 11/4/22 and stopped at McDonalds on Fairgrove
Church Road around 2:30 pm. He ordered and consumed 2 double cheeseburgers (meat and cheese only) and drank Dr
Pepper. He began to feel ill around 7 or 8 pm that evening. Around 2am on 11/5/22, the pt reports having explosive
diarrhea which continued alternating with episodes of severe abdominal pain and being unable to have a bowel
movement. This continued and pt went to ER, ended up having emergency surgery which surgeon said was related to
food poisoning. The patient has retained an attorney and wanted to report this situation to see if any other illnesses
had been reported related to that McDonalds and also requested an inspection of the restaurant. The patient had
already spoken with the manager at this McDonalds on 11/7/22 to report his experience.
If you could send someone to inspect and then let us know the results,that would be helpful. Let me know if you have
