Thank you for reviewing this project. We have tried to address each of your comments or concerns and have revised
drawings as required.Russ,it should be noted that the designer's intention was to duplicate the existing buildings
construction with this addition.
Building
1.See revised Sheet T1.1 showing this project is an Alteration Level 2 as well as an Addition in the Existing Building
Code Section 504.
2.See revised Sheet T1.1 showing this addition project is a Risk Category III in the NC Building Code section 1604.5.
3. See revised Sheet T1.1 showing this project will require Special Inspections per NC Building Code section 1705.
4.See revised Sheet T1.1 showing the climate zone as 4a in the Energy Summary NCECC C301.
5.See revised Sheet T1.1 showing the R-values for the roof insulation above the deck and the walls.See wall sections
showing the same R-values shown on sheet T1.1.
6.See Sheet T1.1 showing the fenestration U-factors are complying with NCECC C402.4 on the Energy
Summary.
7.See revised Sheet A4.1 and A4.2 showing the slab on grade insulation meeting NCECC C402.2.5.
8.See revised C2 showing property lines.
9.Mobile classrooms,decks,stairs,ramps and sidewalks are not part of this project.They were a project previously
and already had final inspections.
10.All doors and landing have been added to the plan.
11.C2,C3,or C4-All landings meet Al 17.1 section 403.3. Note 8 has been added to the general note on Sheet C2
stating that all landings must comply with the referenced code.
12.C2,C3,or C4-All sidewalks required for the accessible route will meet Al 17.1 section 403.3 for a maximum
cross slope of 2%and a maximum running slope of 5%.Note has been added as requested.
13. See architectural sheet A4.2 for site stair details.
14. See architectural sheet A4.2 for structural reinforcement for the site stairs shown.
15. See revised Sheet A1.0 and A1.2 showing an ambulatory stall as required.
16.See revised Sheet LS 1.0 showing the exit discharge path out of the north exit door.
17.See revised Sheet A3.0 and A3.1 showing all doors.
18.This was communicated in an addendum,but see revised Architectural sheets showing all plywood was replaced
with Exterior gyp.sheathing.The plywood is not structural in any way and can be exterior gyp.sheathing,which
meets the requirements of Type II construction.
19. See revised Architectural floor plan showing water fountain as required.See Mechanical sheets also.
20.Existing building with simple access to new addition already has a fixed permanent ladder on the exterior in the
rear for access to the roof and HVAC units.
21.Sheet E3 has been revised to show the correct circuit numbers.
22.Lighting circuits were revised to reflect the correct circuits.
23.Door has been added to the plans and an exit combo and exterior fixture have been added.
24.Ceiling mounted occupancy sensors have been added for lighting control in the multi-purpose room.
25.Electrical has been added for the electric water cooler.
Catawba County Fire Review
1.Fire Extinguishers have been provided for in the specifications and were waiting direction of the Fire official for
placement.However,to show we are meeting the requirements we have shown possible locations for the
extinguishers.
2.Sprinkler system extension will be provided for.Plans will be submitted prior to construction for permitting.
3.Fire Alarm devices are indicated on sheet E5.0 with legend,symbols,and details on sheet E2.0.Fire Alarm notes
are on sheet E1.0.A Fire Alarm extension will be provided for.Plans will be submitted prior to construction for
permitting.
4.See revised electrical drawings showing the relocated exit door that matches the life safety and Architectural plans.
5.See electrical drawings for additional emergency lighting added on sheet E4.0.
EH Well/Septic Item Review
1.These are all still the same people included in the 457 number stated.It is also worth noting that the church expects
to be on the new water and sewer extension prior to the completion of this project.
Zoning
1.As shown on Sheet C2 the building addition is 34 feet from the side line and meets the side yard setback
requirements.
2.No trees have been removed and all buffer requirements are/were existing.However,we are showing an added tree
and several shrubs just to be sure.
3.Any lighting on the exterior of the building will be semi or full cutoff as required.See electrical sheet E4.0 showing
the revised description of the exterior light fixture in the fixture schedule.
