Dear Mr. Phelps,
I'm writing to you today to ensure you know just how difficult a septic situation I have at 3159 Mattie Wade Rd.
Sherrills Ford,NC 28673. I am currently on a shared system from the late 1960's - early 1970's that four(4)
bedrooms from two (2) seperate houses utilize. The system is on the neighbor's property and my connection to
the system has been crushed over the years leaving me with countless sewage back-ups in my house. Not only
do I experience sewage back-ups via the single toilet I have, but it has gotten to the point that I am experiencing
back-ups into my shower stall.
I have tried to work with the other out-of-state property owner, but he has turned his property into a rental and
has no interest in allowing me to fix my situation. As an example, I have had soil scientists, who were on both
related properties in an effort to help me secure a new system and were told to leave as they were
trespassing. The tennents not only drive over the current system, but they will actually park cars and trucks on
the current system further exacerbating my problem even after being informed of the problem. Furthermore, I
have no control nor input as to what gets flushed into the current system and with short term renters, they don't
appear to care about protecting the system.
I have been told by septic contractors that the current system is just waiting to fail completely which will result
in me not being able to live in my house, which will result in huge legal ramifications for all parties involved. I
am officially and respectfully requesting your immediate attention to my situation and permit me a single
system on my property so I can continue living in my home.
