Plan review
Dear Mr. Deitz : C !A'GiP:j COU(Vl'tpF _
1 & 2. This is a written response to the comments you submitted on the referenced
project.
A separate plan view is shown on the attached sheets for the two entrance decks for the
church. Each plan view has the footings shown and dimensioned for layout. The plan
also shows the floor joist patterns and spacings, and the decking. The plans show the
handicap ramps with structural design for each one, as well as the handrails. Joists
connections to the deck are made with standard joist hangers.
3. As a Professional Engineer I am accustomed to using a standard Engineer's scale,
not an Architect scale.
4. 2x6 `s are used as an extension of the lower end of the ramps. Rather than cut a 2x10
on a 12: 1 slope it is easier to use a 2x6.
5. The 2x10's have been revised to show 16" spacing.
6. See sheet 1.
7. There will be ten pews in the church, each one being 11 feet long.
8. Details of the steps are shown. The steps stringers are reinforced by adding a 2x4 to
the tension side of the stringer, by gluing it and nailing it to the stringer. This is
desirable since the riser /tread pattern cut into the 2x10 right much This little bit of
help will take the 2x10 beyond the depth of a standard 2x6.
Using 20" for a seat, that brings the seating to 66.
With the Preacher and helpers, it would seem to be about 70.

I hope this will address your comments and the review can move forward.
