Included with this letter are revis dra ings as listed at the e h letter. Please call if you have any questions or need anything fu er. I --- -_ 1. Sheet T1.0: The drawing index indicates that the Fire ProtectionPTans, qui — ion Plans and Equipment — Racking Plans were included in this submittal. These sections were not included in this submittal. The Fire Protection Plan may be included in the re- submittal to Catawba County Building Services but is not required as long Catawba County Fire Prevention has these plans for review. The Equipment — Refrigeration Plan is required for the re- submittal to verify compliance with Chapter 11 of the 2009 NC Mechanical Code. The Racking Plan may be included in the re- submittal or may be submitted as a separate "Plan Case" at a later time. The Racking Plan shall include attachment details and etc. verifying compliance with Sections 2208.1 and 1613.1 of the 2009 NC Building Code. Response: The refrigeration and racking drawings are included in this re- submittal. The fire protection drawings will be submitted as a separate submittal (by Tippmann Construction). 2. Sheet T1.1: Unlimited Building Area cannot be applied because of the building not being fully sprinkled per Sections 507.2 and 507.3 of the 2009 NCBC. Response: The re- submitted drawings have been revised to indicate a new fire wall between the new Dry Storage 103 space and the remainder of the existing building west of the existing fire wall (between Column Lines F and Fl). These new and existing fire walls result in a separate "buildings ", with the east "building" consisting of the existing building east of the existing fire wall above and the new building additions. Please refer to Drawings Tl.l, T2.0, A0.1, A1.0, A2.0, A3.1, A4.0, A4.1, and A5.3 for additional information. 3. Sheet T1.1: Revise the Fire Protection Requirements section of the appendix B for fire wall revisions. Response: Drawing Tl.l has been revised. 4. Sheet T2.0: Provide accessible means of egress to comply with Section 1007.1 of the 2009 NCBC. Exterior exit stairs shall comply with Sections 1007.8 and 1007.8.2, NCBC. Response: Additional exit lights have been added to provide a minimum of 2 accessible means of egress from each space in the building addition where 2 means of egress are required. All accessible means of egress continue into the existing building to existing accessible means of i i Q 22 n : architecture C, ` L,J eiyineerr,g, P.C. egress. Please refer to Drawing T2.0, and the E1.0 (lighting plan) for the added exit lights. Notes regarding exit signage have also been indicated on Drawing T2.0 for applicable exits. 5. Sheets A.01, A1.0: Revise floor plans to show fire walls. Response: These drawings have been revised to show the fire walls. 6. Sheet A4.1: Revise door and hardware schedule for fire resistance ratings. Response: Drawing A4.1 has been revised to show revised door information. 7. Sheet A5.0 Provide guards to comply with Section 304.10 of the 2009 NC Mechanical Code. Response: Drawing A5.0 includes a guard where roof top equipment is located within 6 feet of the roof edge (such as at the east end of the new loading dock). 8. Sheet A5.0: Provide permanent access to comply with Section 306.5 of the 2009 NCMC. Response: It is our understanding that based on the existing building roof access and the new roof access depicted on Drawing A5.0, roof access required by Section 306.5 of the 2009 NCMC will be provided to all required mechanical equipment, without more than a 30 inch high obstruction. 9. Revise structural drawings for fire walls. Response: These drawings have been revised as required for the new fire wall (and were re- submitted April 27, 2010). 10. Sheet M1.0 Provide outdoor air flow to comply with Section 403.3 of the 2009 NCMC. Response: With the exception of the two dry storage areas (Rooms 102 and 103), the proposed new building addition is completely refrigerated. Therefore, as we understand it, the proposed new building addition is exempt from the requirements of Section 403.3. The two dry storage areas are however required to be provided with 0.05 cfm /sf, per 403.3 for warehouses. Our calculations indicate that for the approximate 5,460 sf and 4,346 sf areas of the two dry storage rooms, 275 cfm and 220 cfm would be required respectively. The proposed design provides 1,000 cfm of outside air to each of the areas, via Supply Air Fans SF -1 and SF -2 shown on Drawing M1.0. Therefore, this would provide more than the ventilation required by the code. 11. Sheet P1.0: The floor sink in riser room 104 shall be directly connected to the sanitary drainage system per Section 301.3 of the 2009 NC Plumbing Code. Response: The riser room floor drain has been omitted. 12. Sheet P1.0: The floor sink in riser room 104 shall be vented per Section 901.2.1 of the 2009 NCPC. Response: The riser room floor drain has been omitted. X: \WGEN5 \59241101 \2010 \MK05041 - Page 2 May 3, 2010 Building Plan Review Response.docx I - 1ZzP P 1 i Bf:C lleeftfl( P.C- 13.
