North Carolina I Dear Scott: a At your request, we visited the above referenced residence to obser\e two existing wood floor ' trusses that need to be shortened to allow for a new stair to be installed. 'File floor trusses in question are 12" deep and span about 18'-8". The new truss length needs to be about 1 1'-10" ~ long to allow for the new stair. 4 VAre recommend shortening cacti truss to allow for a bottom chord panel point on each truss to , align with the supporting wall below. .Also, each truss should be reinforced on each side with 3/" plywood extending back about 8'-0" from the new bearing end. The plywood should be nailed and glued to the sides of each truss. . if ti.ou have any questions or need further assistance, please call us. i Sincerely. 3 TAYLOR & VIOLA STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS, P.C.
