The undersigned arrived on site, as requested, to observe the excavation of footings: footing 1
at rotunda, footing 4 at rotunda, and footing along existing footing B-6.
Also observed test pits along existing CMU wall. I was asked to perform DCP and soils in the
first two test pits. The other two were too deep for access.Perform Hand Augers and DCP. See
attached sheet.
Utilizing a Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (ASTM STP-399) to check the bearing capacity of soil
at the aforementioned footing locations, test results indicated that soils, at the areas and
elevations tested, were capable of supporting a foundation designed for a net allowable bearing
capacity of 2500 psf after the two at the rotunda were to be undercut 12 inches and replaced
with concrete. the soils were wet and soft down 12 inches. The contractor agreed. The areas
measured 2x(4'x2'xl')= 0.59 cubic yards.
