Approximately 15-36" of fill have been placed over the proposed area for new drain field. LSS
proposal from Gary McNeeley is for a deep installation of trenches in 22" of naturally occurring soil
with fill left in place. Fill is being left in place to avoid additional disturbance or compaction of
naturally occurring soil. LSS has discussed design and gotten approval from T and J Panel for deep
installation with air vents to be installed at each distal end of trenches. Keep all parts of new
system minimum: 50' from any well, 50' from lake, 5' from property lines,5' from any deck, patio or
other appurtenance from house including steps. Any further grading, filling or additional disturbance
or alteration over system or repair area will result in revocation of permit and a proposal from an

Comments:
This property had been previously permitted by Catawba County for a four bedroom residence. MA&A
have re-evaluated this property because the owner added fill in the proposed drainfield area. The fill
depths range from 15" to approximately 36". (The attached soil sheets show the depth of fill for each soil
observation. Because the soils were previously permitted, we only determined the depth of fill in each
soil observation.) We are proposing to install a new PPBPS system. The system should be installed 22"
deep in the natural soil. The amount of fill will vary. We laid out the system taking in account the
varying depth of fill so that the lines could be installed at a consistent depth in the natural soil. Each of
the PPBPS lines should have an air vent on each end of the each line as per manufacturer's specification
(2 vents per line). We are proposing to use the existing bed for 2 bedrooms credit and add drip irrigation
in the 50' buffer for the additional 2 bedrooms. The property was recorded in 1964, so the septic line can
be 5' from the property line.
