Landscaping or other site alterations that potentially divert groundwater or surface water toward the septic system, or prevent proper
drainage away from the septic system, including the direction of gutter flows or foundation drains, is not approved, and may result in failure to
approve the initial system installation,or the suspension/revocation of existing permits.
The issuance of this permit by the Health Department does not guarantee the issuance of other permits. It is the responsibility of the
applicanUproperty owner to insure that all Catawba County Planning/Zoning and Building Inspections requirements are met. This
Improvement Permit is subject to revocation if the site plan, plat or the intended use changes,or if site conditions are altered. The
Improvement Permit is not affected by a change in ownership of the property. This permit was issued in compliance with the
provisions of the North Carolina 'Laws and Rules for Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems' (15A NCAC 18A.1900). Neither
Catawba County nor the Environmental Health Specialist warrants that the septic tank system will continue to function
satisfactorily for any given period of time.

*Before the footers can be dug, the existing septic tank must be abandoned.This requires the tank to be
pumped out, crushed, and filled with dirt.
*The existing drain lines that are currently under the proposed garage area should be disconnected and
removed before digging the footers.
*During the septic installation,the existing drain lines must be removed five feet from the proposed
garage footer. In addition,clean clay dirt must be compacted in four inch intervals for the entire five
feet.
*The new septic system will require a traffic rated 1,000 gallon tank with metal manhole covers.
*If the new tank location does not allow gravity flow to the first drain line, a pump will be required.
*There shall be NO grading or filling around the outside of the proposed garage area.
*Do NOT park or drive over any part of the septic drain field area.
*Catawba County Environmental Health advised the applicant on April 20, 2016,that by using a repair
exemption to build a garage, leaves no available space for future repair options. The applicant has been
advised that this is not recommended.
*The septic system installer shall be required to schedule a pre-construction meeting with Catawba
County Environmental Health (828-320-3077) at least 3 business days prior to the construction of the
system. Installation contractor shall be certified level 2.
