Dear Mr. Kain:
The pool referenced above was inspected for compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa
Safety Act, (VGB), by Paddock Construction. We reviewed the field measurements and other information
provided to Sinclair & Associates, Inc. (S&A) by Paddock and determined modifications were required to
the suction outlet components in order to meet the requirements of the VGB. Paddock also replaced the old
filtration equipment with new equipment. We have reviewed the hydraulic criteria for the new filtration
equipment.
Paddock provided photos of the modifications to us. These modifications include:
Pool Main Drain:
• Replacement of the (2) main drain frame and grates with (2) VGB compliant Paddock model
2424 PCFC Flat cover/grates with frames to accommodate a flow of 915 gpm at 1.37fps, thus is
adequate for VGB flow compliance.
• As this is a stainless steel gutter pool, there are no equalizer lines.
• A vacuum line was identified. It is to be disconnected from the pump and capped at both ends
(pump and pool wall).
Based upon the photographic evidence provided, it appears the drains have been modified in accordance
with the VGB Act requirements and no additional modifications are required for VGB compliance. The
new filtration equipment meets or exceeds the existing and recommended turnover rates per the North
Carolina commercial swimming pool regulation 15A NCAC 18A.2500.
